Concept

What my mind seeks to create
The world may not understand
What my heart chooses to love
People may doubt

Yet,
Still the conceptualization of my being Bears witness to no other
Shows no shame of my choices

My mind a building block
A creative media
My lips a lingual art
A golden ticket of mirth

I'm an architect of dreams
A conductress of a mental orchestra
A designer like no other
Creative, passionate and energetic
The spices of life

Dissociated from the future
Injected into the past
A past journey, once forgotten
A journey to eternal triumph

I am being of spiritual existence
A vessel of miraculous discoveries
A pathway to intellectual advancement
A complexity beyond imagination

Still,
Simplicity fuels my beginning
A simple thought sparks my interest
A footstep drives my presence

Advanced yet archaic
Complex but still simple
Disdain around my every structure
A concept state of mind

Much Love,
Nella

Happy 49th Jamaica!

Hello friends, lovers and faithful followers! Today is a wonderful day in my country and homeland Jamaica!!! It's out Independence Day whoohoo!!! We have officially survived 49 great years as a nation and will live see many more! So in honour of this great day I'd like to share with you a poem I wrote called Freedom Call!

Freedom Call

A journey of a thousand miles
Begins with one step;
But,
What of a journey through your life?
A journey through the streets of your memories?

The question ricochets through my mind
Amplified by the immortal pain
Of each blistering step
The crisp whistling of crumpled leaves beneath my soul

A shallow walk
A deep journey
The silent song of an adventure
Drowned out by the voices around

When I see the pain of my brother
Hear the screams of my sister
Listen to the cries of my mother
Touched by the sound of the lost voices
"Help me! Save me" comes the screams
Yet I am helpless to their pleas

The fruitfulness of a voice
Can leave the martyr unsung
Still martyrdom requires sacrifice
To free the wronged
And give salvation to the broken

Solemn tears fill the eardrums
Dissolved in pain-stricken eyes
Washed away a faded smile
Broke the titanium seal that covered the heart

Return thyself to the dreams of yesteryear
Dreams lost with each step
"I have a dream" recited Martin Luther King Jr
"Emancipate yourself from mental slavery" sang Marcus Garvey

Those dreams of the tomorrow
Alive in the tales of the present
A journey in the delirious direction
A direction of equality and equity
Instead,
A symbol of things left undone

Forty-nine years and counting
A footprint left as a reminder
Each step an inch to destiny
But,
We have yet to complete our marathon

So,
Until the eternal race is won
"Up ye mighty race"
Remains the eternal freedom call

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY JAMAICA!!!
